THEMA: Frage

Gerrit

a) indeed, inzwischen, yes, say, no longer :-)

Carsten

P.S.- If I had the choice I'd prefer brown sugar instead of brown leather :-)

Hi,

the rear bench is

a) always torn and hard, and
b) the pieces are too small.

Only donor area is the big part on the rear side of the seat.

Been there, done this myself.

Hi, Ill try some local guys to source some nice looking material, but thanks a million for the help. Perhaps there is a rear bench or some passengers´seat that could act as donor somewhere out there? I reckon that most Sm has a fairly unused passengers seat and rear bench. Its the kind of car that I like to take out on quick little trips and meditate on my own in. And I guess that if you look at most Sm´s background the owners´share my view on how to best use it. By the way, according to the guy that imported the car from Italy in -86 the first owner is said to have been Aldo Moro.

Hi,

they can. And I do know and THEY DO KNOW; too, that the Mercedes "cognac" is not the same stuff. But it's made in a similar manner.

So what is needed usually is a sample of the leather needed, and they will produce a leather which fits. They use different colors, I do have a set of mixed colors from them here. In case I get some abrasions on my leather I can re-paint it there, and it's truely great.

What göran could do is to try to find dead front seats as the rear part is usually great. This is how I repaired my rear bench.

If someone wants me to contact them don't hesitate to write, I'll just call them, and IIRC they do speak english, too. I might also hand over a mail address of one of the owners as we sometimes meet when he has some computer problems....

Hey Carsten,
I guess Göran wants 0,25 sqm!

I've got some Mercedes samples here and never found anything that had the right look. It's not only the colour but also the embossed surface plus the darker printing on the elevated parts. If they ever can do that at Lederzentrum than I guess they could sell a square mile of such hot stuff...

Hi göran,

I can source ANY size of leather, at a high price however. Friends of mine run www.lederzentrum.de , and they can produce ANY kind of leather, the do color it as Citroen did in the 70s. They do a very similar Mercedes S class leather for cars from the 60s.

Should I ask, and how many m^2 do you want ?

Ok, Its actually just the sitting parts of the surrounding leather that is kaputt, so If I manage to find some matching leather to replace the bad parts with I will be happy with that. Andreas, If you can find the ribbed part and/or if you have some large enough matching leather bits, send me a P.M. Thanks for all the help, you are great!

Surrounding leather not available, only rips- maybe- if not thrown into the litterbox.

Hi,

I know there's a USA web shop selling kits, but I did forget the name. Maybe ask the yahoo- List ? Was expensive however, and not original, it was a repro. Brown leater is terribly hard to find in a GOOD condition. I say even black is easier... cause it can be repaired much easier.

Great! Actually, I might need both the part with the ten ribs and the surrounding leather "sitting surface".
