Gummikupplung Zwischenwelle USA

Hallo,
warum hat eigentlich der US-SM anstelle der normalen Paulstra- Gummikupplung diese normalen Guibokupplungen, die ja mehr oder weniger Normteile sind? Gerüchteweise handelt es sich um die Guibokupplung, die auch die Isetta als Hauptantireb hat.
Aber warum ist das für USA anders? War da Ralph Nader am Werk?
